    CONTEXT:

    The Level 2 Engineer – Security & Conditional Access is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the encryption and conditional access segment of SES’ IP Prime service. This position is also responsible for developing and implementing security systems that will provide detection, prevention, containment and deterrence mechanisms to protect and maintain the integrity of media transmission. Ensures that disaster recovery plans adequately reflect the needs of the systems. Will be required to establish and enforce security policies to control access to systems. Incumbent should stay current on all evolving relevant technology.


    EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+years experience (or equivalent) in managing transmission security and/or conditional access
    • Bachelors degree; Electrical Engineering major and Masters Degree preferred
    • Highly skilled in satellite and terrestrial telecommunications systems design, particularly in IP media signal distribution in a residential environment
    • Ability to implement innovative solutions to complex design and operational problems.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision, work well under pressure and multi-tasks
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Process improvement mindset

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Support the integration of the security system with various middleware solutions, subscriber management systems, and consumer Set-Top Boxes
    • Manage the day to day operation of the encryption and conditional access segment of SES’s IP Prime service
    • Establish and enforce system security policies; implement security upgrades and counter measures in the event of a security breech; Track security threats
    • Manage channel level authorization and entitlements, maintain service level operation of encryption key management
    • Coordinate security system patches and service upgrades; peform regression testing
    • Maintain customer data bases, and provide reports to programmers, operators, and SES internal operations
    • Domestic and international travel as required.
