The IP Engineer is responsible for analyzing, defining, and implementing the security infrastructure for the IP Prime network. Implements and ensures adherence to security policies and procedures. This position provides overall design characterization and review prior to implementation to ensure elements will function properly together and interface to the core network and its requirements. During the integration phase the IP Engineer works to ensure all the system components operate together as engineered, troubleshoots, and optimizes as required. The incumbent has a through understanding of space capacity allocation and management and uses this knowledge to promote spectral efficiencies. Builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and third-party providers. This person will also be capable of learning Digital Video and other IP Prime specific elements.
- 7-10 experience in Digital Video MPEG2/MPEG 4 skills are desirable.
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to effectively matrix manage internal and external groups in the execution of projects.
- Knowledge of operations processes and procedures.
- Ability to operate various types of integration software tools and specialized diagnostic equipment.
- High level written and oral communications skills; High level organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple work assignments.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and create network communications diagrams.
- Participate in RFP reviews and assist SSE's with operations requirements, perform assessment and cost analysis in preparation of implementing end-to-end satellite-based communications services.
- Design and implement security infrastructure for the IP Prime network.
- Support Digital Video Encoder/Decoder infrastructure.
- Ensure adherence to network security policies and procedures.
- Serve as 3rd level technical escalation for Operations.
- Analyze and deliver implementation design options to senior management and customers.
- Manage the engineering installation requirements of satellite services domestic and international.
- Mock up components in a controlled Lab environment to ensure various elements of system design are proofed.
